In the hustle and bustle of ordering groceries, cooking, baking, conversing with family and friends, and breaking up fights between these 2, it was easy for the intention of this holiday – gratitude – to get lost (even though gratitude is a regular daily practice of ours).
So I’m taking a moment to put what I call the 3 Ss of Gratitude into place. These 3 Ss give us a bigger bang for our thankfulness buck:
1. SPECIFC. Be grateful for the toothless smile on your son’s face that lights up your heart (specific) rather than grateful for your son (general).
2. SAVOR. Practice savoring: the art of living in the present moment. Notice how all five of your senses experience something. Slow down and take in all the simple pleasures and everyday magic right in front of you, like the yellow butterfly in carefree flight on your drive to work or the delicious aromas of your favorite coffee.
3. SOMEONE ELSE. Another factor, besides gratitude, that contributes to a longer, happier life is our relationships. Expressing appreciation for someone else will tie these two powerful life uppers together.
I am grateful that YOU are reading this and that we’re connected. I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🧡🤍🤎
P.S. I asked the boys to pick out something nice to wear to Thanksgiving dinner and this is what they came up with! I felt a little under-dressed next to them. 😉
